A Century’s Worth of Quality Backed By the Latest Technology
Columbiana, OH — For more than 100 years, Columbiana Boiler Company (CBC) has manufactured kettles for the Hot Dip Galvanizing, Continuous Strip Galvanizing and Annealing industries, earning the company a worldwide reputation for being a market leader for quality, reliability and service. The premier kettle manufacturer for North America, Central America and South America, CBC ships its kettles and other products to Europe, Asia and all reaches of the globe.
Quality Control and Custom Design
CBC quality control begins by specifying the ideal steel composition to our steel producer, and continues with ongoing research on the resistance of its kettle steel to the various available zinc alloys, furnaces and burner types on the market.
The fully standardized fabrication process ensures that all products undergo continuous scrutiny as they are built, including Ultrasonic Testing of all structural welds. After fabrication, all kettles (with the exception of stainless steel kettles) undergo a complete stress-relieving process before they are shipped. This ensures the advantages of faster heat-up while eliminating the burden and responsibility of properly stress-relieving the kettles during installation and start-up. Prior to shipment, a final inspection is performed and documented, with each customer receiving a data package of all related documents with their product. Kettles are available in a range of lengths, depths and widths to accommodate customer requirements. Typical kettle size ranges are:
Carbon steel kettles have a typical thickness range of 1 inch to 2.5 inches (25.4 mm to 63.5 mm), while stainless steel kettles have a typical thickness range of 1 inch to 2.25 inches (25.4 mm to 57 mm). Stainless Clad kettles have typical thicknesses ranging up to 2.1 inches (52.3 mm).
While these are typical dimensions, CBC can fabricate larger and thicker kettles if required.
Hot Dip Galvanizing Kettles
CBC’s hot dip galvanizing kettles are fabricated from steel plate specially formulated for galvanizing kettle construction, along with state-of-the-art welding techniques that are nearly identical to its special steel plate chemistry. Hot dip galvanizing kettles are available with flat or round bottoms, with both styles offering identical service life regardless of length, width or depth. Customer-specific requirements such as kettle size, thickness, shape, lifting lugs, additional flanges or stainless steel heat shields are also supported.
Continuous Galvanizing Kettles
CBC continuous galvanizing kettles are fabricated using the same manufacturing process as its hot dip kettles. Material choices include CBC special carbon steel (in thicknesses up to 2.5 inches) and stainless steel (in thicknesses up to 2.25 inches), with optional spouts or extensions available based on customer needs.
Wire Coating and Annealing Pans
CBC’s wire coating and annealing pans, available in carbon steel or stainless steel, are fabricated with continuous wire operations in mind. Whether the bath is zinc or lead, most of our pans are made of one-piece main-body construction with ends welded in to minimize weld joints.
Galvanizing Kettles Accessories and Parts
In addition to offering galvanizing kettles, Columbiana Boiler Company also fabricates custom-made zinc bath accessories such as kettle covers, universal racks, spinner baskets, kettle insulation packages and related equipment.
